Ummm...

YEAH. There are clubs everywhere. There are several in Melbourne, one in Canberra, and if you did a search, I'm sure there is one in Adelaide.

At least there would be the Coopers club, and Grumpys in the Hills. Do a search.

Sorry Chris, was implying meetings of the type where you stand up and say " Hi, I'm DrSmurto and I am a homebrewer and then people clap and...."

damn it, doesnt work when you have to explain it. :( :(

As for your genuine response.

Adelaide ppl have the Barossa brewers, Grumpys Stammtisch and there is a group of beer and wine makers that get together once a month.

Coopers club? I'm a member but their 'meetings' are pissups and marketing ploys with a smattering of HB thrown in. Got an invite to their next one if anyone wants a free pass, normally $10. I wont be going.

Only been to one Grumpys Stammtisch so far. Hasnt been one in a while but it was a great experience. All up i think we had nearly a dozen brewers, from K&K to AG and everything in between. We sat around and sampled each others brews, provided feedback, got sloshed when one bloke started handing around RIS that i enjoyed way too much. And we ate good pizza. Hoping to go to the next one at the end of the month. I ot some encouraging feedback on a few of my beers, one very good and one with something out of place that i couldnt pick.

Well drifting even further off topic - clubs are a great way to get open and honest comments on your brews and that's often of great value to all grain brewers who have to control every step of the process from cracking the grains...I learned more in my first year of club membership than at any other time in this great hobby. Having 5 current and former national champions present to taste your beers helped too! :wink:

Going to watch an AG done on Saturday, hope it inspires me to fit the manifold on my mash tun and give this AG caper a crack.

That said, HB clubs should be places where kit brewers can discuss beer in a friendly atmosphere and thats what i found with the grumpys crowd, only too willing to taste my beer and provide feedback. Also plenty of tips and advice on how to take the next step.

Recently joined the Barossa brewers so i hope to be able to meet up with them soon and get more feedback and just meet fellow brewers. We still are tainted with the Hb brush of old, tell people you brew beer and their first response is to screw up their nose - ewwww. home brew!
