new to kegging

Hi All
My housemate and i have just brought a basic kegging system and have a few questions.
1. How long can a brew last in a keg? My instinct says a fair while as long as infection is kept out... but not sure
2. What are the best kind of beers to serve from a keg?

Any advice would be awesome. cheers

A beer can last a fair while in a keg. The general trend is that the beer is long drunk before it even comes close to its shelf life :D

As for what beers to serve from a keg... ALL OF THEM :D You can serve anything from a keg, and all beer tastes better from a keg
A beer in the hand is worth two in George Bush...

As Chris said "all of them"
although I've just put down a Barleywine and will be bottling that as I want to age it and don't want to tie up a keg
