Lagering/CCing in the keg

Is there anyone on here who lagers/CCs in the keg?

I'm curious as to how it works.

I believe this is the only lagering/cold conditioning a lot of brewers give to their beer. Ross (since we seem to be using him as an example as of late) being one of them AFAIK.
Prost and happy brewing!

Really? I had the impression that people were going the cube.

I think I'll CC/lager in the keg, then filter into another keg. Is that how people are doing it?

I CC my lagers in the keg. Very simple to do.
I brew
I rack and leave again for another week or so to help the brew clear.
I rack again into a clean keg and stick in the fridge and again leave for as long as possible, usually a minimum of at least 2 months.

I rack into a special keg set aside for this purpose. The reason it is special is that I cut 25mm off the bottom of the dip tube to keep it out of the trub. Chill for a couple of days then filter into a normal keg. comes up a nice bright clear beer. I found that the odd bit of any solids when decanting were getting stuck in the poppet valve, also you are only bringing unnecessary crap up into your filter. This mod stopped all that.

That's a pretty good idea. Keeps the crap out of the filter. And you wouldn't lose all that much beer either.

I cc for 2 weeks in a cube at 0-1C. Add polyclar and wait 2 days then rack to keg and continue to cc until required, at the moment thats well over a month. Crystal clear beer without a filter. i have my golden ale on tap that contains ~20% wheat and its perfectly clear using this regime.

Kegs are an ideal secondary. No light. No oxygen. I rarely do any other type of racking these days.

Good to hear.

In future I think I'll go:

Brew - rack to keg - cc/lager - filter to new keg - drink.

Do you fully carbonate after racking to keg?

I don't. I just burp the keg and keep it in the fridge as long as i can then hook it up to the gas a week before drinking
