New kegger - testing with lemonade

Postby timmy » Monday Sep 15, 2008 8:52 pm

Hey all,

I just got meself 5 cornies but nothing else (as yet - I'm gradually building up my equipment), but have a lot of lemons that desperately need turning into lemonade (and not the hard stuff either). What I wanted to know is: If I went ahead and made the lemonade and threw it in one of the (sterilised) kegs, can I leave it for a while in the fridge before I carb and serve it? It would probably be in there for a month - is that too long?
The 'soft' lemonade on tap was one of the compromises made during negotiations about getting the setup in the first place.....

Cheers,

Tim

Why would you want to not carb up straight away? It isn't going to improve, so you might as well gas it. Also, cornies don't seal until you put in some gas- this forces the lid against the top, squashing the seal into place.

Because I don't have the gas or regulator yet.....

I might have to wait until I get the rest of the stuff. The lemon juice (all 6+ litres of the stuff) has been frozen so there's now no real hurry.

Yeah, I'd put it off. No real advantage to blazing ahead, and plenty of potential disadvantages.

But look at it this way... you have kegs! :D
