Chest Freezer or Fridge

I'm looking at getting a kegging system & building a Kegorator

Would I be better buying a chest freezer (& fridgemate) or a fridge?

Thinking chest freezer would be better. Easier to mount the twin tap font on top and more energy efficient.

Chest Freezer.

I've recently done it and it's easy. I got a twin tap font and a temp controller which was about $220 all up including the freezer (second hand of course)

The one thing to check is how many kegs you can fit inside them. Mine only holds 2 because of the raised section at the bottom of the freezer that houses the workings. But I'm going to make a modified lid so I can fit 4.

Cheers,

Tim

Thanks Timmy. How many Litres is your freezer? I'm looking at getting around 200L

& what's the size of the corny kegs? Seen on this site 2 different sizes mentioned 57cm x 27cm & 65cm x 23cm. Which is correct?

Any pics of peoples setups would be great.

Cheers, Mat.

I have a 215L slimline chest freezer that fits 4 without a collar (pretty sure, have only got 2 at the moment). Should be able to get another one on the hump without any problems. The kegs I've got are 210mm x 635mm, but you need a bit more room at the top for the disconnects.

If you want some pictures, have a look at this thread on AHB - plenty of pictures there.
