How to set the psi on my regulator??

Postby chadjaja » Friday Jan 30, 2009 5:36 pm

I got my regulator with my keg kit from kegsonline.com.au

Its this model.

Now the dial for out pressure goes up to 800kPa and 8 bar. But looking at the online converters for 10-12psi it would be impossible to set psi accurately.. :?

I would assume that if they sell this model it can used easily and does the job.. The pics from US sites has much less range on the dial and even psi on some where you can be precise with your settings.

Anyone fill me in on the easiest and correct way to go about it

Hey chadaja,

If you want 10psi, set it to 70kpa or 0.7 bar..
If you want 12psi, set it to 83kpa or 0.8 bar..

Dang thats such fine adjustment

Basically you have to go off the bar lines as the kpa are just too hard to set off those. I don't plan on force carbing so I'll just hook it up and leave for a week or so at the desired amount of about 10psi.

Not really, I easily set to 70KPA, unless you got bad eyes

Force carb man, much easier, then just set to serving pressure and it will balance nicely after a couple days..
Just dont overcarb it when force-carbing, I havnt.. :D

Thanks :D

I'll have a go at both methods for sure and see how it goes. I'm kegging for all the other reasons than to just drink a few hours after I keg it so I'm not too perturbed about waiting.

The best part about it all is because I have nothing on tap I can put my fermenter in the freezer and set the temp mate to 18 degrees and brew in this hot weather :D Then brew another batch and finally turn it down when both are in kegs and carb

For the sake of losing beer off tap for two weeks at a time I'll do this when the weather makes me. Otherwise I have no trouble at temp control in the house normally.

Cheers
