Storing my home brew

Is it possable to just prim my home brew as we always do prior to bottling but leave it in the 5 gallon carboy that is equiped with a tap and sealed air tight put it in the fridge and drink it right out of the 5 gallon container?? has anyone ever tried this or will the beer go flat to fast

Hi,

The problem is that the carboy is not intended to be a pressure vessel. Assuming it will hold pressure, it would also go flat as you're pouring it. Especially if it takes a while to finish it. I think the poms do something similar but some of their brews are only lightly carbed anyway.

A few days ago I bottled some beer, a mild and an old ale. I siphoned the very top of the mild from cold conditioning into a 5L water bottle and proceeded to drink this as-is over the following few days.

I am planning to do something similar with dry hopping next time, maybe with a bitter rather than a mild.

Carbonation was next to nothing.

what about those 5l novelty kegs can they be re-sealed or re-used
