Learning more about yeast

Postby Mad Dog » Wednesday Jan 09, 2013 5:35 pm

I've been doing a little browsing and YouTube surfing. Even though I have been a brewer for two whole months, it seems that there is more to learn.

On my next bottling day I'm going to wash my yeast cake, and then make a two quart starter with it for the following batch. It seems I maybe haven't been pitching enough yeast. I'm hoping this helps me get the FG down a bit.

Any words of wisdom?

Clean and sanitise.
I've had 3 infections now and put 2 of them down to poor yeast handling.

Good luck.
