Anyone in Melbourne looking for a decent sized brew pot then i reckon this one might do the job!

If only that was in Adelaide! Only had my 50L kettle for 6 months and i already want to upgrade! :lol:

thats the idea, 40-45lt will do 2 cornies and way more long necks then i can be botherd capping. the missus is going to the fabric shop later for a bag that will fill the pot, a false bottom may replace that eventually

this will be my first all grain AND first brew in my new cellar.. i have been dying for a keg of lager since october, lets see what i can do to maintain low temps. i am thinking about a pilsener so if anyone wants to post a recipe or link me to one go for it!

0.50 items Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15.0 min) Misc
1 Pkgs Budvar Lager (Wyeast Labs #2000) [Starter 5000 ml] Yeast-Lager

30 min Protein Rest Add 9.60 L of water at 57.3 C 50.0 C
60 min Saccrification Add 5.60 L of water at 99.4 C 66.0 C

Then onto the yeast cake went this - A german pils
4.75 kg Pilsner (Weyermann) (3.3 EBC) Grain 100.00 %
45.00 gm Tettnang [4.20 %] (60 min) Hops 23.1 IBU

nice cheers for them. there was only 2kg of pills grain the the brew shop that i was going past today, they suckerd me into some amber malt to get me up to 4kg and another 500 of ale malt becuase they ran out of amber also :twisted:

got some more sterling (us saaz) and a pack of brewcellear european lager yeast becuase thats all they had. :(

it should still make some beer. and a leaning experience also.

A tip for the home brewer, a HBs that only has 2 kg of a selected grain in stock is not that much of a HBs ( for an AG brewer that is) Find yourself somewhere better or order online :lol: :lol:

im kinda in a dry area for brew shops... basically tullamarine.i have been to every shop within 30 minutes and there is 4, but none of them are within 20 minutes. i dont have much of an excuse to go down to yarraville (G&G) so being the lazy bugger i am just end up at a brew shop when ever i go remotely close and deal with whatever crap i can find normally.i really should invest more time into driving to grain and grape more often :lol: then again a u brew it is opening down the road soon, i hope they can get me what i want.

i braught my pot home late last night, unfortunatly my sober half would rather sleep and go to work then stich me up a custom sized grain bag .. and here i sit with a day off, grains and a pot.

please tell me they gave you amber extract & not Amber grain??
2kg of amber malt in a 4.5kg brew will most likely be undrinkable. If that's what they've given you, take it back for a refund. Amber malt is very intense & biscuit like & should be used very sparingly. If it's amber extract, the beer will be fine, as it refers to the colour rather than the grain type.

I would have used 500g Amber and 2 kilo of Ale along with the 2 kilos of Pilsner. That will make a decent brew ;)
