CrookedFingers brew cave.

Postby CrookedFingers » Saturday Jan 18, 2014 7:09 pm

Hey all,
Finally I have got myself set up for BIAB, just need to find time turn the key and take the maiden voyage !
SNPA will be the first brew.
Upgrades to come will be a pulley to lift and suspend the bag, insulating the urn and a bilge pump to run the immersion chiller through an ice slurry.

The brew in the fermenting fridge has an infection…..was a partial pale ale, dunno what happened but it smells like nail polish remover ! haha. Usually I ferment at 18, as you can see the fridge is up over 21.

..and yes, I own a foam dome ! woooooo !

Cheers.

Looks like a good setup. At least you have a space dedicated to this. I am very keen to move to BIAB as well and am currently searching for a cheap crown urn. I can't quite justify the $270 for a new one at the moment.

ok man,

I'm curious what are all the wires for your temp control ferment fridge?

1. temp sensor
2. heat
3. cool

I assume, but I think I see all wires going onto the fermenter, how have you got it rigged?

Ah, long stupid story.
The large black one is a heat pad in the door.(just looks like its going on to the fermenter)
The white one is a keg king temp control probe on the fermenter.

The black one….well. I have another STC1000 which I had been using for a while to run the fridge through, cause it was only wired up for cool.
I got the new one that has heat and cool wired up and only plugged the heat pad into it. Left the fridge on the other one.

So basically I had a separate temp controller for both heat and cooling. Bit silly but hey.
I have since gone down to one temp controller for both.

Told you it was stupid !

Long stupid stories are my favourite part of hobbies.

I have had a chest freezer and a st-1000 sitting under the house for 2 years. Only got them going 3 or so weeks ago.
