Ah, the joys of weddings in the land of Coopers, CPA at a minimum unless, like me, you volunteer to host the buck show at your place which meant the groom bought a carton of LCPA for the wedding just for me.

As for beer lists, luckily almost all places in Adelaide have Coopers on the list, when they dont i end up drinking wine. I do recall a place in Brunswick, a Nepalese restaurant that was super cheap and was BYO beer and wine. Never seen that before but we gladly showed up with a carton which was put in a fridge and stubbies brought to us on request - needless to say we went back regularly. Think it was called the Wild Yak?

The one time i ever went to Adelaide was for the Ausbiotech conference... It went for 4 days, and I remember that at each nightly dinner or function they would bring around trays and trays of bottles of CPA, or would have jugs of CPA sitting on the tables... all for free... It was glorious....

The pub at uni has a disappointing collection:

Carlton mid x2
VB
Carlton draught x2
Tooheys New x2
Stella
Pure blonde
Cascade light
Cascade blonde

I normally hover between the draught and cascade blonde, neither of which are particularly great but are certainly drinkable. Apparently the cascade is soon to be replaced by Asahi though.

So whats with this x2 crap at pubs around here? The tap is available, why not offer something a bit outside the ordinary, like Tooheys Old, Cooper's Pale, or a James Squire product? I guess its a handy thing to have more than one tap of the swill so you can fill two jugs at once...

Went to a pub in Sydney after the KISS concert, I was drinking JSAA and I tried one of the pubs "Own Brews", it had the pubs name on the tap....it tasted like VB....B4 you ask, no, I do not remember the name of the Pub as I sank over 12 that night and cannot remember the name.

Back on topic, they only had JSAA, their beer whatever that was (crap) Tooheys, VB and some light beer. Funny how I can remember what was on tap, but not the name of the Pub

I went to a restaurant in Coffs Harbour for the first time today 'Mangrove Jacks' - I usually go to the one next door.

I was pleasantly surprised to be handed a beer menu along with the wine list. Two pages of Australian and world beers to choose from. I selected a Samual Adams Boston Lager, unfortunately they had just gone out of date so I selected a Greene King Strong Suffolk Vintage Ale - half a litre of the meatiest beer I have had in a long time... Apparently a blend of BPA and 'Old 5X' - a dark red ale so thick it would have coated a spoon. Tasty as.

I was introduced to the "portagaf" (sp?) in SA and I must say it is quite nice! Was made with a drop of lemonade and topped up with Coopers Stout

Greene King usually makes some good brew, and that one sounded like a great one.
On the Samuel Adam's Boston Lagers... I found they age well, for at the end of January, I've bought some six packs out of the bargain bin at 1st Choice that "expired" December 07, and they were good to the last bottle in mid February.

Really not a fan of the Blonde and Stella is a grossly overrated beer in my opinion. It's not terrible but I don't rank it too well. Although, it was much better before Carlton started brewing it here in Aus.

I found imported Stella at the Liquerland not long ago. It had plastic shrinkwrap around the six, as opposed to the usual cardboard six holder of the CUB Stella.

I'd rate Stella and Cascade Blonde above the others as previously mentioned...

I went to a mate's 50th at a pub in Speers Point. After consuming Tooheys and the like, I shouted 8 blokes Cascade Blonde. 2 of them drank that for the rest of the night and they are true Tooheys drinkers.

As I mentioned above, the cascade blonde is usually the one of two that I drink there. I'd be much happier if they got the cascade amber though.

Last three days saw me lunching at Surf Club restaurants in vicinity of Coolangatta (Gold Coast - I know. Poor me!)

If you are not a fan of Tooheys Old, and I am not, be prepared to drink wine. Not a decent bottled beer in sight! But who cares when you are on the Gold Coast?

I went to a 21st on the weekend.... drinks of choice were:

TEDS
Carlton Dry
Emu Bitter (in cans)
Bundy and Cola on Tap...

I farken drove 200km to get to that party too... should've stayed home...

I got a menu for a joint called My Mates Place Cafe in Kensington, Melbourne, in my letterbox and the beer selection reminded me of this thread.

How's this for a dire situation:

* Victoria Bitter
* Carlton Draught
* Pure Blonde
* Cascade Lager
* Crown Lager
* Stella (BUL, no doubt)
* Heineken (ditto)
* Boags
* Corona

If I had to choose, I'd probably go the Cascade first and Boags second. After that, it'd be soft drink for me

You'd want to hope they weren't charging much for a schooner.

What was the Boags ? Hope its the Premium... even the Draughts not to bad. Cascade Lager (Blue Label) used to give me a screaming headache.. As for the rest, Stella is made by CUB and the Heineken by Tooheys... Nice if you can get the originals.
