Baron's ESB

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Baron's ESB

Anyone tried Baron's beer? (Sydney's Own... according to the adverts on the sides of buses).

I can't see myself going out of my way for it - but I would be keen to know if this is style over substance, or a good drop raising from the trub of other marketed beers.

I have tried it, and would buy it again.

Cheers,

Tried a couple of theirs last night.

The Pale Ale I grabbed because it was apparently hopped with Nelson Sauvin (although I couldn't taste it...). It was OK I guess.

The other one I tried was the Lemon Myrtle Wit (can't remember what they call it), but it was disappointing.

Baron is making quite a push in marketing itself in the United States, showing up at the better bottlshops.
Mainly they export Pale Ale and the Black Wattle Seed line.
I've had the Pale Ale, and was curious about the ESB and Black Wattle, but its near impossible to get here in Queensland unless I order it.
