Bohemian Pilsener

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Bohemian Pilsener

Just tried this little beauty from Matilda Bay....

I really really really like it - still haven't tried an authentic czech pils (like urquell).

What do other pils drinkers think of this one?

had my first one of these yesterday - absolutely brilliant beer - I thought it was low on bittering for a pilsener, and perhaps has some wheat malt in it - like to brew one thats for sure.

It's pretty light on bittering for a pilsner but is a bloody good drop.
Coopers.

did you not find it a little syrupy?

like it had undissolved glucose syrup, or something?

I'm not overly impressed with it. I'd prefer to spend my money on Urquell.

A nice drop. Calling it a pilsner and thus putting it up against genuine pilsners is hardly right though... I dont really think it exhibits many pilsner qualities. Urquell, or a Budvar stamp on this with their crisp, green, fresh feel.

Well said, MOFO. A bit floral and fruity for a pilsner, IMHO.

A very nice beer nonetheless.

The best beer in Australia.

Bar none.

I love anything Coopers make and think Urquell is fan-bloody-tastic, but I just have never had anything like this beer before. Hard to believe it can be so complex, yet so subtle.

Glorious. And can be consumed on any occasion, in any fashion.

Spectacular.

Definitely on the top of my list for Aussie pilsners. Although I gotta agree it doesn't really stand tall next to a real pils like Urquell.
