Gage Road 'Best'

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Anyone tried this one? It's the British bitter. I picked some up the other day, and it wasn't bad at all.

AKA Gage Roads "London Best". I bought a 6-pack while away on holiday in Shepparton, to bring back home with me to Melbourne. Was pretty impressed with it. Nice hoppy malty beer, but not too heavy.

I never thought I'd see "holiday" and "Shepparton" in the same sentence, but there you go...

The in-laws live out west of Shep, so we pass through regularly, but never really had the urge to stop for terribly long. I also read a post somewhere there is a good ss fittings shop there, too.

I haven't tried Gage Road London Best, by the way.

How about "I was leaving Shepparton, to go on a holiday...." :-)

Dropped in to a Dan Murphys on route to work (yes, i was a tad late this morning) and couldnt find this beer.

Grabbed an Obrien's GF pale ale and a Wicked Elf Pale Ale instead.

Doc, try a first choice liquor. I think they have them.

I got mine from Jim Murphy... I bought a 6-pack that was 3 days from retirement, and they threw in a case for free!

I've tried and it ain't half bad. The Gage Roads world series beers, there is also an American Pale Ale floating around somewhere, aren't bad. I enjoyed them but I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy more.

I am about as far away from the central markets as you can get. I live in the hills and work in Elizabeth.

I could just ask the for it to be ordered in at Dan Murphys.

I'd be interested in your opinion of the Wicked Elf Pale Ale DrS.
It's brewed locally, and one of my favourites.
I toured the brewery a couple of weeks ago. The assistant brewer is also an AG homebrewer.
The only hops used in the Pale Ale are Chinook and Cascade (both in pellet form), not unlike your winning LCPA recipe.

Too be honest i couldnt detect much in the way of chinook. The cascade was strong and IMO a tad grassy. The other barossa brewers seemed to enjoy it, i thought it was ok but not the best APA i have tasted.

Seeing that the beer mentioned in the heading is no longer being discussed...

What do you guys think of the other Gage stuff?

I love the IPA, and the lager isn't bad either.
