2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Postage is a killer. If I win one day it'll be a double win, no postage and a heap of beers.
Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Received Sonny's American Amber today. Thank you and nice choice. Amber's are up there with my favourites.
Jeff.

Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
I finally bottled something I'm happy with (in fact, pretty bloody proud of) on Sat: a robust porter. SWMBO (always the harshest critic) preferred mine in a blind side-by-side test with James Squire porter (not a great porter, I know), so the decision was made that I had a beer worthy of being a prize. Sonny will be getting a bottle too, at last - 11 weeks after the draw
It had reasonably lengthy primary and secondaries, was filtered before bottling and used the notoriously lazy WY1187 Ringwood yeast, so hopefully it will carbonate eventually. I implore you, Jeff (and Sonny), to wait as long as you can to give it a chance. Those assertive flavours (as delicious as they are now) may mature nicely along the way too. It'll be posted this arvo, or first thing tomorrow.

I just got a bottle of stout in the post for you Jeff, hope you enjoy it.
Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
No worries squirt, I think I can be patient for it. Not one of my best attributes, but I'll hold out as best I can.
Thanks Tipsy. Look forward to it.

Bottle posted yesterday.
Stocks were getting a little thin, Jeff, but I have sent a Lean & Hungry Pale Ale, my best effort to this point. It is unfiltered, so give it a few days in the fridge to clear up. Hope it goes down well.
Cheers

Ps treasure the bottle, would you believe the Coopers bottles have been fetching $0.70 on eBay! The famous pickaxe bottles up to $2.

Earle,
Your S&W was just as you described it. Noticed the wonderful fruity aroma as soon as I cracked it. I could have left it under my nose all night, except I kept drinking it. I'm not good a describing flavour, but it was fruity with what I thought to be a slight orange/citrus flavour.
Very easy to drink a lot of those on a hot day. Would love the recipe if you're willing to share. I think I'm hooked on Galaxy.
Very nice Earle! You've set the bar high indeed.

Damn you Earl. That's a lot for a BIAB newbie like me to live up to.jello wrote:Very nice Earle! You've set the bar high indeed.
Your Dunkel will be bottled mid next week if all goes to plan. It's been lagered for a couple of weeks but will still need a few weeks maturation, or even months, (if you can wait that long) to be at it's best. Also it's more of a malt driven style as opposed to hopsy. I'll let you know when it's ready and organise to deliver.
Cheers

Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Barls' Raspberry Cyser was merrily consumed last evening. Nothing like I've ever consumed before. Was very pleasant to drink as it left a fruity taste in your mouth well after you had sipped it. As my wife said, "It's not something you would chug." as at 14% it had some kick. A mild fruity aroma with a light mouth feel to match. I've never had a cyser before, so hard to compare it to anything else I've had, but it was better than any ciders I've had.
If i had it again, I'd have it a little colder that what I had it at. Blackberry would definitely be good too.
Thank you muchly barls.
p.s. did you want that awesome bottle back?

Hi Jello
Glad you like the S&W. Its definitely my favourite at the moment. Recipe is posted here http://www.homebrewandbeer.com/forum/vi ... 60#p108732
Tasted it up against the real deal on Saturday and I preferred mine, I found the real one a touch sweet.

Only got my urn back yesterday and have just finished my entry for this comp. Give it fermentation and carbonation time and I should be able to post it within about a month. Sorry for the delay, Jello.
Re: 2011 Southern Spring Lotto Draw
Hi Jello, just wishing to check you received the stout ok that I posted on 14/9. Just want to make sure you got it and not the postman.
