Over the last couple of days - Little Creatures' Rogers' Beer - how good is this for a mid-strength brew?!! Also Brewdog Punk IPA - pretty good; and Stone and Wood's Pacific Ale, which is every bit as good as I remembered.

Warm weather and beer.... Mmmmm.

I, too, have had all three of these over the past couple of days. I grabbed a sixer of Rogers and four-pack of Punk at Dan's the other day. Rogers is great and Punk is absolutely magnificent. I had the S&W at the local on Thursday night. There's something about this beer that I'm not enamoured with. I think I find the body a bit thin.

I'm down in Warrnambool (SW Victoria) for Christmas and had a few Mountain Goat Steam Ales last night.

We'll go to the Flying Horse Brewery today to sample some of their brews and maybe buy some for Christmas day.

Ah, beer ...

Cheers,

Oliver

Drinking my light amber ale which i started brewing a few years ago after tasting LC Rogers and deciding I needed a nice, hoppy light ale but with so much more character (malt and hops).

Supping on the latest variation now. Munich, Rye, Carabohemian and Choc Rye. Loads of homegrown cascade. This version finished at 1.008 so its more of amid strength at 3.4% but it's such a tasty beverage.

Happy Festivus to you all, I poured this beer out of my xmas present to myself, new Perlick taps!

Just finished a home made Witbier and about to break the seal on a Timmermann's Framboise that's been sitting in the fridge for a few weeks. Truth be told I've been a bit afraid of it. The first lambic I've tried. Hope it's good enough to justify the price tag.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Blackberry cider, with 12 litres apple juice, 500g blackberries and US-05 yeast.

It's been in the bottle for two weeks today. It's dry, although not overly so, and pretty easy drinking and refreshing. The blackberry taste is subtle so I'd probably go 1kg next time.

To quote the little lady: "Mmmmm. I could drink that."

A home made German Pils. I used the Myburger recipe from Brewing Classic Styles. Although I'm usually more into darker, malt driven beers, this is THE BEST FRIGGIN BEER I'VE EVER MADE.

Shame I only have 18 bottles.

I'm drinking the 'Judas Dark' from the woolshed brewery just up the road from me. It is strong in the wattle seed flavour from the bottle, must be fresh. I found it a bit more subtle from the keg locally.

Either way well done Jack.

Finishing off with the amazon ale from the same brewery, after the odd good old coopers pale inbetween.
Cheers

Just cracked one of the Wassa honey porters I bottled a couple of months ago. This just gets better and better.

Here's the post I tried to post earlier a little earlier but was thwarted by technology ...

Mountain Goat Imperial Pilsner (7.5%) on tap at the Court House Hotel in North Melbourne. It's nice enough, but reinforces my favorite gross generalisation that life is too short for lagers.

This was followed by a Vale IPA, also on tap, which was very, very nice.

Now I'm at home reacquainting myself with Coopers Sparkling Ale after too long. What a great beer it is.

Mrs warra is doing lunch with the girls from her old job.

I made my way to The Rocks in Sydney, and headed for the Lord Nelson Hotel & Brewery.

Had a pie with mushy peas, mash and gravy for lunch.

Consumed a pint of Vicotry Ale and a pint of Old Admiral to wash down my lunch, over a friendly chat with the inhouse brewer.

Anyone coming to Sydney, you must visit The Lord Nelson Hotel to sample the best beers craftbrewed in Sydney. Do not miss it!

Lindemans Faro Lambic, mmmm mmmmm yum!
Now to work my way through the other lambics at the bottle'o

Oh and bottle'o bought as I am waiting for the Porter I bottled recently to mature, long break between brews so beer stores are at critically low levels.

I'm on a lambic at the minute, too. It's the Timmerman's framboise. Not as good as I remember their peche to be, but good for a bit of a girlie, fruity beer.

Mountain Goat Steam Ale, followed by a Young's Special London Ale, then a Black Cat finished with a Grand Ridge Hatlifter Stout.

I'm now washing bottles in preparation for bottling tomorrow. Might have one more beer to finish the night.

How'd you find the Black Cat?
For a mild 3?% I thought it was fantastic. Heaps of caramel flavour if memory serves correct. It was a couple of years ago when I had it.

My local 1st Choice had it. You are spot on, lots of caramel flavour and very easy to drink.

I had one of those a couple of weeks ago and thought the same thing. It reminded me of the Fresita strawberry fizz that wifey drinks only raspberry instead. Not bad as such, but I was kind of wishing I'd spent my $7 on a bottle of Landlord from the next shelf over. Not really complaining because at least now I have some idea what a framboise is supposed to taste like.

Timmermans don't make anything that represents what lambics are supposed to taste like. Even fruit ones.

Really?

Serious question. Where should I start if I want to dip my toe in some real lambic beer?
