1984 vintage bourbon or beer

Postby Wimmig » Thursday Jun 23, 2005 12:04 pm

I am turning 21 in Augest and want something from 1984 to crack open on the table. I don't want wine or champs/sparkling as i work around it everyday and i get sick of it.

I was thinking a 1984 vintage evan williams single barrel bourbon but the maker has informed me they only vintage back to 1988.

So does anybody have any other ideas? Did the blue lable Grande Reserve from Chimmay ever come in 1984? The earliest i can find is 2000, and i've already tried it.

I would prefer a single barrel bourbon from the year...but it's proving quite the bother.

Instead of one beer 21 years old, why not 21 beers one year old? Think outside the square man!

Here are some options for you:

They are the only 21 year old bourbons I could find and god only knows if you can get them here in Australia.

I do like a whisky now and the myself and would recommend the Irish type. There are lots of Scotch and Irish Whiskies that are aged 21 years. Here is one of my favs http://www.bushmills.com/public/single_malt21.jsp

Hope that helps with the celebrations.

Cheers,

How about a 21 year old single speyside malt, should only set you back $200ish depending on the brand

Or if you prefer blends, the Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21yo is also around the $230 mark

Or if again you prefer Irish, im pretty sure Tullamore Dew and Jamesons make something in the 21yo range

Thanks alot! I sent a message to a friend who lives in Kentucky to see if he can pick one up in person, and ask the distillers for a barrel date and ID.

I may well end up going with the 21y/o Chivas if i can not find anything else suitable as i can just pick that up through work.
