Thanks Milliner. Really looking forward to sampling a range of others' brews. I've given up on getting my friends here to sample my brews as it was a useless exercise.

In terms of packaging, when I sent beer in hahn premium stubbies (thick glass) i used bubble wrap and a cardboard post pack box. Now that I send tallies, I use a wine pack box from Aust Post and nothing else. What do you bottle in? I think you probably need to get some sort of box. Haven't worried about thermal insulation.

Next draw will be Easter 2012.

I bottle in coopers longnecks. Never knew about the wine box thanks for the tip. Will try to get off today or tomorrow. Cheers and enjoy the spoils of your ill gotten gain :wink:

Earle, congrats.

I am about to go to Sydney this morning, and will also be away over Christmas and early into January. Will mail you your winnings when I'm back, but won't be until about mid January.
I have an AIPA bottled about 2½ weeks ago, and will test one before I send it to you. If I'm happy, that's what you'll get. If I'm not, I'll probably send you a stubby each of a Stout (aged 1½ yrs now) and a Belgian Dark Strong (aged 1 yr now).

So, you'll have to have some patience, but you will get your winnings eventually.

At 3XL the jacket is going to be too big for me as well. I'm happy for it to be held for the next lotto draw.

No worries Warra. I'm away for a bit over christmas as well, so it will be good to have a few beer arrive in January to enjoy. I'm sure if you send me something that you're happy with, it will be great. Cheers

Afternoon Earle, your bottle of "honey bitter" is in the wine box ready to be posted am tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it and again well done. As we have experienced postage costs to Tas. in previous lotto we took out a loan for yours :lol: :D :lol:

G'day Earl, I just bottled a brew and it tasted all right out of the hydrometer jar so I sent you a bottle.
I forgot to put the brewsheet in though.

It was a double batch with 5kg Munich 2, 5kg pils, 1 kg caraaroma, 100g Roast barley and 1kg brown sugar. Bittered with cluster and vanguard.

My brother brewed half with US-05 and I did my half with Wyeast 3522.

It will need some time in the bottle.

OT does anyone know an easy way of cut and pasting a recipe from beersmith 2. It was very simple with beersmith 1

With the 3522 this would be some type of belgian? When you say time in the bottle do you mean just carbonation, or longer for some aging as well?

I'd say both, it came out at 6% and with the grain bill I'd guess a month or three would probably be good.
That said, I will be trying it every couple of weeks cos I'm impatient so I can give you a heads up if it's tasting any good.

Of course as I've only tried it from the hydro sample it might end up undrinkable :cry: :oops:

I didn't use BS1 that much so can't comment on the differences, but the way I do it in BS2 is to select (not open) the recipe in the Recipe tab. That will display the recipe at the bottom of the screen in "Classic Recipe" format, which I think is the default. In the Report pulldown change it to "Plain Text". You can then select and copy from this window.

I hope this makes sense, and is what you were looking for.

As I say, there may have been an easier way in BS1 and if there's a better way in BS2 I'd love to know!

Just taped up the wine box containing my Imperial Rye Landlord. Will post tomorrow.

750mL of a 11.4% beer - I'd advise sharing it or not drinking anything prior.

Subtle this beer is not.

Good on yer Earle.

I have a choice of two.

There is one lonely longneck of my BIAB Little Creatures attempt (Lean & Hungry Ale), which has been pretty well received previously.

Otherwise I have a newly bottled BIAB SNPA-type ale, with plenty of late Amarillo and Cascade. First taste last night was pretty good; a bit cloudy (all my brews start off cloudy and clear after a while), and the hops could do with a bit of a rest to mellow a touch. Should be right to drink by Australia day, with a few days in the fridge to settle.
Currently drinking: BIAB DrS GA, BIAB Californian lager, doppelbock of sorts
In the Pipeline: landlord?
