Nah, we're just havin' a few coldies to celebrate not being obliterated 'n' stuff.

It could be like Lost. We're all dead, we just don't know it. Eventually, we'll all meet up in a pub somewhere with the Bunda Polar Bear, and then walk towards the light. (Jez I was disappointed in how Lost ended.)

Never saw it. But your idea doesn't sound bad except for the dead part.
