A Slovak man trapped in his car under an avalanche freed himself by drinking beer and urinating on the snow to melt it.

Rescue teams found a drunken Richard Kral staggering on a mountain path four days after his Audi was buried, Ananova.com reports.

Unable to dig himself out, he drank one of 60 half-litre bottles of beer in the car and realised he could melt the snow with urine - then drank the rest.

"It was hard and now my kidneys and liver hurt. But I'm glad the beer I took on holiday turned out to be useful and I managed to get out of there," he said.

I'm over 50 and never seen a snowflake in my life! I have been over most of Australia except Victoria and Tasmania( which doesn't cover much of much of Australia anyway) but never to see snow!

sorry Dogger, no snow in Perth, it has been known to snow in the south west of WA, but only on very rare occasions and it doesn't last, just melts straight away!

I have seen snow, in NZ and in UK as well as in Canberra, but not here in the suny west!!

Maybe you could send some over, see if Fedex really can deliver!

Hard as this may be to believe, I have only seen snow a couple of times in my life. Once was in Europe as a baby, which I was too young to remember, and the other time was as a child in the US.

In Adelaide, South Australia, where I'm from, it never snows. We do have ski fields about four hours drive from where I live now in Melbourne, but I've never been.

The ski season is only six weeks or so long. In summer it's bloody hot up there (although today was the coldest and wettest February day on record. It only got to 12.9C, which is winter weather).

Having lived 40 years in the U.K, and the last 31 years in Perth W.A
I know which the two climates are best for the brewing of home made
Beer ? , the only Ice I've seen here in Perth is in a Esky or the on
a glass of beer .
