The guy that runs owns operates micro brewing has done more for beer here in west Aussie than anyone that I know possible Aussie in general
He has campaigned for taxation reform excise to others
He is one that would not knock as some do
He has produced gold medal beers and is more than modest
He doesn’t sit on an admin board hitting the delete button like some do!
So we could assume that he is a cool dude
And I don’t take any self reward in mentioning his site either
That post on his site is to help people in brewing awareness not to hinder like some so grow up

What are you banging on about now? No one has said anything about him. His site looks good and I'm sure all of the content is as good as the little I looked at since it was discussed here.

If there is any malice in any posts it is directed squarely at you, not him.

Second Bum's post. The only thing wrong with old mate's website is that it was you, Speedie, that recommended it.

seen this today,

wonder if its being offered in NSW

Mate if you really want to become a certify brewer try Ballart unit, Perth ECU uni or the school of brewers and distillers institute or any one of a heap of other institutes
Without sounding bias just because you can count money doesn’t make you a bank manager!

The diplomas offered at Ballarat and Edith Cowan are postrgraduate courses or for those with existing industry experience.

I'm going into a Bachelor of Science with an applied/industrial chemistry focus so I can go into winery (and a fair bit besides) lab work as well. As I live next to Coonawarra it seems one of the more interesting things I could do with my skill set and with decent job prospects. It'd be nice to work at a brewery, though...

fifey think of a winery as a palce where nothing can grow
mainly due to the fact that the medium is sooo acidic due to Ph and the alcohol levels are soo high what would live there
someone is going to say wine!
go work in a brewery and appreciate cleanlyness

Ignorance is still blissful i see Speedie.

Your knowledge of winemaking could be chiselled on a grain of rice with a shovel.

Plenty of bugs grow in wine, some different to those in beer but there are overlaps. Acetobacter is just one (converts ethanol into acetic acid resulting in red wine vinegar)

This is Speedie so the smallest grain in a bag of the shortest grain possible.

His knowledge of the english language is probably on par

Perhaps it's arborio rice. It's just that speedie hasn't added anything to absorb more knowledge?

Knowing Speedie, it probably wouldn't even be rice. He'd be there with some polenta and a hoe banging on (in haiku, no doubt) about how his rice/shovel formula is the best.

There does seem to be a bit more of a hygiene tolerance with industrial scale winemaking at least, but it could be the scale and might equally apply to brewing, there's a heck of a lot of what you want floating about put in the juice/ wort (not that I'm claiming I actually have knowledge in the subject). I don't think being a professional winemaker would be fun though. Too much stuff out of one's control that could go horribly wrong, and terrible hours for three months of the year.

Anyway, I'm near definitely applying for mid-year entry for a Bachelor of Science at Uni SA. I'm looking for a job in Adelaide in the mean time.
