Coopers Yeast

Postby Dogger Dan » Friday Jun 03, 2005 10:43 am

Folks,

The adventure is on, I have once again tried to culture a Coopers yeast out of the bottle. (drank 6 to get there)

Do you think it will work this time? I still think the stuff is irradiated despite Mr. Coopers assurances.

Dogger, you are toying with us again!
While we salute your thirst for knowledge- and your thirst in general- you have left out some vital details.
Is that six stubbies of Pale Ale? Or six longnecks of Sparkling Ale? Or a mix- say two stubbies of Heritage and four longnecks of stout?

If it WAS six longnecks of Sparkling Ale, immediately before starting the experiment, my vote would be for you dropping the culture on the kitchen floor before it had a chance to prove its mettle!

I've done about four of em, and it's an absolute never fail for me. Unless your Canuck quarantine folk nuke the bottles on the way in to get rid of all the Australian nasties inside. God knows there's enough of us on your ski fields.

Sorry,

They would be stubbies as we don't have quarts of Coopers here

How does the source beer taste? What is the "Best After" date on the bottles, please Mr Dan.

Hrundi,

Bottles are in the recyclables already and today was pick up. I can't remember if it was March or May 2006, but it was one or the other

Saw the 2006 and figured life was pretty good.

By the way, culture is bubbling already

The source beer was pretty darned good. Three I drank warm just to ensure I didn't kill it in the fridge

Dogger,

I'm sure you'll get there eventually. If you don't it will be most mysterious.

Fingers crossed.
