The spam sure has been heavy today, I've deleted a good 40 or 50 posts and threads in all forums since midnight

Should have time to keep cleaning tomorrow and xmas, but not frequently, so I'll do my best.

Most are automated spambots. Out of the 20 or so that have signed up in the last two days it appears only a few have actually posted so far but it would be wise to clean them all out.

I run a private 4wd and camping forum and we've had to set it to Admin activation of new accounts to stop the spambots.

Can you ban them? If so, make sure you ban the IP addresses as well. That can slow them down a fair bit.

Mate, you need to get Oliver to give you more functionality to stop these things. You might wake up tomorrow and find a couple of hundred more spam posts.

I've lost count, but it looks like the worst might be over. Just have to wait for Oliver to clean out their accounts.

I managed to get ahold of Oliver, and he cleared all 101 spambots and banned any further registrations from .info addresses.

Hooray for Oliver! :D

Good job to Oliver & NTRabbit, i've been watching all the new users pop up. Most of them from the US advertising some crap, but they're gone before they even get to post!!

Things have been fairly quiet lately. It seems the spate of a spam registration posting 18 or 20 posts has stopped (perhaps due to some changes I made, but who knows).

Fingers crossed that things don't flare up again.

Cheers,

Oliver
