Any chance of getting avatars? Can they be hosted externally to save your server and bandwidth?

I'll talk to Geoff about avatars. I'm not a big fan, personally. Call me old-fashioned!

Anyone else interested in having avatars? If so, speak now!

if there was the option, i'd use them - it makes it very easy to spot people. still, i'm not really fussed.

Good question!

They're the little images or logos that users can place below their username and details.

I'm a bit of a forum whore & this is about the only forum I frequent that has avatars disabled - not that I'm complaining mind you!

If you do choose to enable them, for god sakes keep the resolution down to maybe 150x150 absolute max, really 100x100 is enough though it isn't very vision impaired friendly for some photos.

I'm not too bothered, but to chuck in my $0.02, I do prefer a neat, orderly forum without too much clutter.

I know most of the other HB forums have them, but I'm not fussed.
I visit for brewing information and the like, not for avatars.

bugger the avatars. things are just dandy at present.

I vote for avatars, very easy to spot who is who at a glance.

Funny enough I would have thought you would love the idea of an avatar ryan! Though it would most likely need to be censored by the admins... many times

As it turns out, yes there is a chance of getting avatars!

They have now been enabled. Here's the deal:

1. You can upload avatars
2. You can link to external avatars
3. The minimum size is 20 pixels x 20 pixels
4. The maximum size is 80 pixels x 80 pixels
5. The maximum file size is 6144 bytes (6kB)
