Little Creatures Pale Ale

The good, the bad and the ugly of commercial beer and breweries, including microbreweries and craft breweries.

Little Creatures Pale Ale

Postby Chris » Wednesday Jun 27, 2007 10:46 am

Yesterday I (for the first time) came across Little Creatures Pale in pint bottles. Anyone seen this before, or is it a new thing?

Also, anyone have any idea what the bottle conditioning yeast is, and if it is worth using to brew.

have not seen them yet but deffiantly heard about them

from memory LCPA use a lager yeast to carbonate there bottles (ie. different yeast than fermentation)

I got one of these a few months back so it's not new.

They're great for HB if you can get enough of them...

It's supposed to be a different yeast for brewing and for carbonation, but a lager yeast? That's interesting.

I was thinking tonight about the Lager Yeast still going whilst my Ale yeasts were sleeping and not carbonating

How could I add ale yeast whilst bottling?? Syringe?
A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.

Yep, have been around for some time. I remember seeing them sold at a little bar made from an old shipping container in one of Melbourne's alleys. Have seen them in a few bottle shops, but they ain't cheap

What is the cheapest that anyone has been able to get these pints? the cheapest i've managed is $5.70... i can justify that (just) because if you buy a pint (in a glass) at the brewery itself, its 8.60.... (not quite the same atmosphere at home compared to the brewery).

I think the reason why they are so expensive is because they had those pint bottles custom made, and that aint cheap. I reckon the bottles would cost the company about a dollar each to produce.... If they have had put them in generic 500 bottles, they could bring the price down to about 4.50 - 5 bucks, but obviously wouldnt have the same wow factor (and 68ml less beer)....

Prost and happy brewing!
