What are you drinking now?
Re: What are you drinking now?
Mikkeller Big Worse - Man, this is a tasty beer. Slightly confusing though. It sits somewhere between a Christmas pudding and unfermented wort (if matr will allow me to reuse the comparison). It is drinking dangerously well for a beer of 12%, alc is extraordinarily well hidden. Although at $19 a throw I guess I wouldn't be having a session on them anyway.
Re: What are you drinking now?
This one's not word for word like the last but repeat away champ! I'm a huge fan of efficiency! (A different efficiency than speedie has been talking about)

Re: What are you drinking now?
call a spade a shovel if you will

Re: What are you drinking now?
They are 2 separate things too speedie.speedie wrote:call a spade a shovel if you will
FWIW I was talking about efficiency in general everyday life.. Nothing to do with extract or brewhouse efficiency
Re: What are you drinking now?
a spade is a spade
Re: What are you drinking now?
Had a Rouge double mocha last night it was lacking in the coffee department a good mouth feel @ 8.2% it should be
Held a reasonable head but didn’t give the lace lines on each sip (I do sip)
Aroma of slight chocolate
Not a bad example considering that it had a long boat voyage from California to here
Well over priced though

Not that it matters but they're based in Oregon.
Re: What are you drinking now?
I have a Wicked Elf Pilsner in the fridge waiting for me when i get home tonight... I cannot wait to try it out
Re: What are you drinking now?
Had a Thomas Hardy Ale (2007) a few weeks ago during the local BJCP study session on old ales and barleywines.
An amazing beer, luscious, malty, toffee, dried fruits.
We also cracked one of my barleywines that has been in the bottle 18 months and it stood up pretty well against what is considered the perfect example of an english barleywine.
Pretty happy with that and will be entering it in the comps next month (SABSOSA and ANAWBS)

Re: What are you drinking now?
Tried more of my Morgans Blue Mountains Lager. 6 months old, it stil has a 'bite' to it and confirms why I'm going AG.
Cheers

Beer numbs all zombies !!!
Re: What are you drinking now?
An Anderson Valley imperial IPA 8.7 A/V
Fascinating beer for a beer that is 100 IBUs it certainly blends well with all the malt as it had a big honey taste as well as the floral aromas that this part of America is famous for
Lovely copper tones and quite bright
Didn’t hold a head as well as would be expected though great mouth feel
They must be adding hops on a continual basis as it is stated that there are 20 separate additions
Well worth trying if you are a big beer fan!

Re: What are you drinking now?
Some people seem to rave about this kit. I had done it a couple of times years ago before realising it was too hot to brew lagers up here and steering towards ales. Now I have a fermenting fridge and wanted to put something down really quick so did it + 1.5kg MB extra-pale/brew enhancer + steeped hops + good yeast - brewed at lager temps and have to agree with your opinion. As with a lot of kits its probably a good base but needs extras such as spec grains and hop additions to make it good, by which time the kit is unrecognisable anyway. (Should I say - needs extras to mask the taste of the kit)rotten wrote:Tried more of my Morgans Blue Mountains Lager. 6 months old, it stil has a 'bite' to it and confirms why I'm going AG.

Drinking one of my 2008 organic Shiraz oak cured on French wood
Glass has good legs when presented slightly oxidized now
As no chemicals were used
Still a nice wine with home cooked seafood noodles

It's not beer, but I just opened a bottle from my cellar.
Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Semillon, vintage 2000.
Very very nice. Luckily I still have more, because it's still got years ahead of it. It's only starting to develop the aged complexity and flavours you expect from a well aged Semillon.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Matilda Bay's limited run Long Shot. It is a a dark ale infused with coffee. I'm really enjoying this beer. It makes me think of a Guinness carbed with Co2 with a shot of coffee. After the second longneck, the coffee tones fade(but I think it would be too much if it didn't). I reckon that this would be an experience fresh from the tap.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Ta I'm still yet to get a bottle of the long shot but will get around to it.
Tonight I've just tapped my latest APA. A dr smurto golden ale grain bill with a bit of crystal even if its a bit out of style and a combo of simcoe and Amarillo. I must say its divine! The combo of the piney notes from the simcoe and grapefruit Amarillo mesh together great!
Then onto my trippel that I'm sure will need a bit of time but I'm dying to get into a sample of it considering the fermenter samples were so encouraging. Think I'll end the night on a Dark Strong Belgian after a doppelbock....
Ahhh the joys of homebrew on tap

Re: What are you drinking now?
I've got a Simcoe and Amarillo APA in the ferm fridge at the moment. Did you dry hop yours, Chadjaja? I'm thinking of throwing another 20g mix of Amarillo and Simcoe into it tomorrow but I've not yet fully decided.
Sipping on my latest JSGA attempt that I kegged yesterday. Needs to mellow out a little bit but it's already beautiful. I'm astonished at how clear and bright my beers are dropping since moving to the dark side. I still don't fine, haven't filtered since mastering the wonders of the pillow-case and I could read a newspaper through this baby! Granted, I do cold crash for a minimum of 4 days but the beauty of that is that all I have to do is hit a button achieve below 4 degrees. Lazy brewing producing terrific products; what could be better?

Re: What are you drinking now?
yeah but its just dry hopped with Amarillo at the racking stage 7 days into the ferment. About 20g from memory without my notes handy.
Re: What are you drinking now?
Me too, slurping a lovely drsmurto golden ale,
Its been naturally carbing in the keg for 14 days
and its bloody delicious.
Saints have just beat cats, i should go to bed,
But might just have 1 more, the inch of creamy
Head beckons.
Yes, having drsmurtos golden ale on tap is
One of lifes simple luxuries.
