With adjustments made it is now sitting at OG 1039, IBU 30, no dex and the 10min hops are at 25g rather than the suggested 20g to account for higher FG. Yeast will be 1275 - although I'll also have some 1028 I was planning to use in an IPA if that might yield better results.

I haven't and i have used this yeast more than i have used 1469.

No, I haven't. I've never used it. I'm just going by Wyeast's own description here.

It is a high maintenance yeast for some. I tend to swirl my fermenter morning and night for the first few days. Keeping the temperature at the higher end rather than the lower end also helps the yeast to reabsorb the diacetyl. I normally aim for 7 days at 20C and then another 7 days at 22C.

That said, the thames valley yeast is a good one and i have used it before in a Ruddles type beer.

In that case I will continue to discount it as an option until I get a better handle on the style and stick with the 1275. I'll keep your process in mind for when I do use it later.

I've consumed some of these a number of times.
It was OK, but I prefer others such as Fullers ESB, Hobgoblin etc, which I think have more oomph and character.

I must say that this grainbill does seem to be lacking in the complexity stakes for my tastes and does have me slightly worried but I'll follow the play-book this one time and see how it goes. If Bramling Cross works out half as nice as it sounds it'll probably get me over the line either way. Although if this Crisp MO is as good as the few reports I've read from local brewers suggest then that might elevate it a touch. I'll be brewing this one on one of the public holidays next week.

So, I guess a bit of feedback is in order here. This one was a bit of a mixed bag really. Probably my cleanest beer with least noticeable fermentation flaws to date. In fact, there's no 'probably' about it - it is my 'best' made beer thus far. But a bit of reading suggests that BC is one of those divisive hops that brewers either seem to adore or despise. It turns out that I'm in the latter camp. I probably over did it a smidge for style, which obviously compounds the issue, but certainly nothing that would ruin a beer, IMO. I guess I'm just not a fan. Haven't had an opportunity to get any informed feedback on the beer but no one has complained thus far (but then again, they rarely do). I'll be able to finish the batch but I can't see me rushing out to use these hops again.

Nah, I haven't found a bottle of Ruddles yet but I haven't been out looking too hard lately. No beer hunting 'til semester break and even then only if I do okay through my exams (not sure if blackmailing yourself works but it is worth a shot).

Nah, I take the comment in the spirit it was offered (and am assuming the backhander was unintentional). Every brew shows an improvement in some aspect and I'm happy about that too. If I got the point where there was nothing left to learn (very unlikely) then it'd probably be time to take up some other hobby.

which hop strain are they closest too
it seems that goldins are responseable for a lot of crossing
ie willamette etc
