Grain BeerSmith Inventory

Post by warra48 »

I've just completed an interesting exercise.

My inventory in BeerSmith has been out of whack for some time, which makes designing recipes rather problematic, as I could not be sure I had on hand what I intended to use. I carefully went through my stock and weighed it all out.

For some reason, it hasn't successfully reduced the inventory on doing a brew for some time. I've corrected some of my entries to the BeerSmith generated malts, rather than inputting my own description and details so, hopefully, it will work from now on.

This is my stash at present, in grams:

95 CaraHell
697 Carafa II Special
778 Munich II
823 Amber
685 Special B
586 CaraMunich II
153 Chocolate
120 CaraWheat
850 Black (what was I thinking when I bought this much?)
480 Roast Barley
2880 Premium Pilsner
1820 Dark Wheat
2800 Vienna
2600 Chocolate Wheat
1048 CaraRed
4800 Dark Crystal
3500 Medium Crystal
3300 Light Crystal
15600 Maris Otter TF Floor Malted
13400 Wheat

Hops are next, but that should be a little easier. Probably only about 3 to 4 kg in the freezer (mrs warra not happy, but it's my freezer too, not just hers).

Ooh aaaaarrrrrgghh, for someone who professes to be somewhat of a spelling nazi, I can't even get the title correct. I blame the IPA I'm currently enjoying.

It's not BeerSmtih, it should be BeerSmith.

Mods, feel free to please correct.

The problem I have is that by the time I've finished a brew and I go to click the 'remove items from inventory' button I am so drunk that I can't remember if I have pushed it or not.

I think once I pushed it three times.

My problem is that when I purchase new stock I dupicate the item and add a month and year to the name. This helps me keep track of how old the inventory is. If I reuse an old recipe with new stock the items don't match up and get removed. Need to remember to update the recipe for the new inventory. At least beersmith tells you if there is insufficient inventory to remove.
