Foamy beer from taps...whichs shouldn't be

Postby Madness » Wednesday Nov 30, 2011 5:30 pm

Recently I purchased 50L of amazing beer from a brewing mate of mine who sells his beer at craft pubs to assist in a xmas party that will be happening soon.

I've put a 20L keg in my kegerator but where previous beers have poured fine this beer it quite foamy and takes a while to settle to half a glass of beer.

I have tried ajusting the serving pressure but to no avail. Anyone have any advise?

Foamy beer from taps...whichs shouldn't be

Sounds like an over-carbonated keg. Disconnect the keg and open the pressure-release valve. Leave the valve open for a couple of hours then hook everything back up and see how it's going. If needed, repeat the process.

If you end up over-doing it and feel that the beer is too flat, just leave it hooked up at serving pressure for a couple of days and it will right itself.

Yep, sounds like an overcarbonated keg. I would suggest that you let it warm up to room temp, burping the headspace every half our or so for a couple of hours. The reconnect it all back up and check how it is.
