Hey Horsey, was in your neck of the woods yesterday, at L'espresso. Had a coupla Peroni's with a fine pizza. Those good Italian ones are marvellous.

SNPAt is a very nice beer but not the amazing experience most suggest.

Very few of the ones had here exhibit the qualities of a fresh one (even though supply chain has chained recently).

White Rabbit white ale. Interesting beer, tastes like chorizo sausage. Would think this would go well with paella.

Went to the new 1st Choice outlet that has just opened up here in Mildura recently yesterday to check it out. A lot like the Coles version of Dan's (we are getting a new DM store very shortly as well). Anyway they had a pretty reasonable selection of beers so I picked singles of some Aussie brews.

I already commented on the White Rabbit above, but my tasting notes are below.

First up was the Stone and Wood Draught Ale from Byron Bay. A nice light refreshing ale with passionfruit and peach flavours, very nice.

Second up was the Vale Ale. I thought appropriate as it was Valentino Rossi's birthday (well the day before). This is a fruity and slightly hoppy ale more along the lines of a Little Creatures I think.

Finally I tried the White Rabbit White Ale. Now this is a very interesting beer. My first thoughts were that it smelt of chorizo sausage. It tastes a little like it was well. I have never had anything quite like this before, but it was good. Would probably go well with Paella.

Yeah, chorizo doesn't sound right. Looks like 1st Choice are hitting their usual tone up there pretty quickly. Should be fruity, a little bit belgian yeasty.

I've never had a WRWA that tasted the same as the last one I tried. It's not really a beer that deals well with poor handling. I've certainly never had one that tastes of chorizo, though.

Well I've never had a white rabbit white ale before so had no idea what it was supposed to taste like. I wouldn't have called it fruity though. Maybe some poor storage by 1st choice possibly.

Also just noticed that the S&W is labelled Draught Ale. It has been called Pacific Ale since November of 2010.

Looks like it is a bit more 2nd Hand than 1st Choice.

Excellent, sounds like they sent all the scraps up to Mildura. Probably wise I guess on their part as the biggest sellers here will be VB and Carlton Draught.

My own APA. Gotta love that malt hit and the inevitable US hops bite at the end, with citrus notes all the way throught the brew.
I've come to the conclusion that APA and AIPA are two of my favourite styles.

Enjoying a nice cup-a-tea while I contemplate what to wear to Beer Fest. Maybe my Circa 2003 Emu Bitter shirt? Actually scratch that, don't want the James squire rep trying to convert me onto "something Better".

Seeing as it's my tenth wedding aniversary on Tuesday I might just go with "I'm with stupid!" Wifey can wear her "Me Too" shirt.
