Barrel aged RIS. Brewed with a group of locals, aged in a 100L barrel in my shed. To be served with dessert at the ANHC pairing dinner on Thursday night. Not a bad drop.

Went down a treat. Lots of good feedback including some very encouraging words from Mitch Steele of Stone Brewing who i was fortunate to sit next to for the dinner. Some amazing beers served along with very impressive food. Beer of the night for me was the raspberry berlinner weise.

No pics, as uploading on here is not as easy as on some other forums (not brewing) I frequent.

Just started to drink my latest attempt at a Düsseldorf Altbier. Crystal clear and clean. Next attempt I will drop the Carafa Special II down to only 20 gr, plenty of colour as it is. Beautifully malty with some lingering very light fruit from the yeast and nice closing bitterness, total IBU 51.5.

3000 gr Munich 1(Weyermann)
1800 gr Premium Pilsner (Weyermann)
50 gr Carafe Spacial II (Weyeramnn)
40 gr Spalter first wort hopped 100 minutes
100 gr Spalter 70 minutes
5 gr yeast nutrient
5 gr BrewBrite
Wyeast 1007

25 litres at 1.052
2 week ferment at 15ºC, racked and lagered 6 weeks before bottling.

Great beers actually. The Miss Pinky was pretty incredible.

Your house still standing after the storm the other week?

Yeah mate, house still standing. Lost a tree and part of a fence but pretty minor really compared to some. Everyone is more interested in floodwaters here at the moment, pretty high river.

@Guru can you keep your Blackwater on your side of the darling next time mate ;)

No river boating for us this summer unless it drops and clears like a high flocking yeast ;)

Sorry about that mate, not much I can do. Old man lives on the river, here is his place yesterday. Water just starting to go down now.

I heard it was dropping upstream. Thats good news at least. Many trees and huge clumps of grass etc floating down stream at the moment. So 1 month till it drops here then, still rising atm

Bit off topic but here's a pic of a boat ramp I use. Its under the far treeline somewhere, usually a 2 mtr drop off the bank to the water.

Hard to talk about anything else when the river floods here too. River way down here now,I reckon it will be back at pool level in another week.

Anyhow, my next post will be about BEER. Actually just bottled a brew last week, an APA brewed with Galaxy and Cascade. Should be good for Christmas.

Like beer from the stubby, so are the flood waters of our lives.
