Nope, I'm definitely not Ian Perrie.

I did play full back through my school years but alas never continued after that (not that I was much chop anyway

)

I'm a devout Port Adelaide fan though.

Both the SANFL and AFL sides.

About 15 years ago me and bud came across a couple of his old man's kits, way out of date. Cheap drunk, decided to try it. Wow turned out great. Maybe all in my head but haven't had one turn out that good since.

What is the story?

Every Crows fan I have encountered hates Port Power, and the Port fans hate the Crows.

They are all Adelaide surley?

Of course in other odd fan structures I really dislike the Broncos (NRL) but the Lions (AFL) are second only to the Swans.

It's a long, long story.

But basically, anyone who didn't barrack for Port in the South Australian National Football League (i.e. Sturt, Norwood, Central District, West Adelaide, North Adelaide, South Adelaide, Woodville, West Torrens and Glenelg) hates Port.

This is the traditional hatred. They are scum.

All the SANFL clubs got together and agreed they wouldn't apply for an AFL (Australian Football League) licence. But Port went behind everyone's backs (after swearing they wouldn't) and approached the AFL about putting a team in the AFL.

As a result of this, the SANFL agreed to throw together a team to enter in the 1991 AFL season, instead of allowing Port's team into the AFL.

This is the philosophical hatred. They are f---ing scum.

There is no reason to like Port Adelaide "Power" (AFL) or Port Adelaide Magpies (SANFL).

In fact, I hate them both.

I hope you now have some understanding.

Unless you were born into it, you will never understand the deep-seated resentment and hatred of Port Adelaide.

You either love them or you hate them. Anyone that says they barrack for Adelaide and Port Adelaide because it's good for South Australia has no idea what they're talking about.

AFL supporter say it's like the Collingwood-Carlton hatred. But it doesn't come close.

Thanks for the history Oliver, all I could get out of most Crows fans was that port are scum.

One normally very polite lady even used the c word about them. That left me agahst.

sorry boys but i dislike them both, only thing is I can't stand port, it seems after collingwood supporters that port supporters are amng the most feral people on the planet!
