Recommend a kit
The coopers pils was darn good, as was the stout. Black rock dry not to good, black rock lager better. but both are new. the rest I've been brewing you fellas prob don't get so no coment. Also would like to know what yas put in with coopers pils.ie. not dextrose
I like beer oh yes I do. doo daa doo daa. I like beer oh yes I do. oh daa doo daa day
I'd have to disagree Kipper. I have brewed several Cascade kits, albeit Golden Harvest and Mahogany Porter (with Dark Malt and honey to beef it up) and have found them to be AOK. The Golden Harvest is an excellent Lager with lots of hops coming thru and ideal for a hot summers day.
Also, I have brewed several Tooheys Lager and Dark Ales and found them to be great kits.
For a truly excellent bitter lager you just can't go past Country Brewers Wal's Lager.....it's exceptional!

I have not found much favour with the drys either, it doesn't seem to matter whos.
I think if you have to beef up the kit with malt and honey it must say a bit about from a Kand K stance.

All this talk about Wal's Lager has got me wanting to try one.
Does anyone know if Country Brewer kits are available in shops, or are they just available online - http://www.countrybrewer.com.au

I find morgans to be the best
I've tried many different brew kits, but have found the morgans range to be my favourite, especially the blue mountain lager with a brew blend of maltodextrin/dextrose and the canadian light lager with maltodextrin/dextrose and dry hopped with 12g of super alpha hops, mmmmm good stuff!
Oliver,
As far as I know The Country Brewer only has shops in Sydney Metro and Bathurst. They have a mail order service if you want to order that way.
I can thoroughly recommend the Wal's Lager. It is a lovely crisp lager with lots of hops coming through. I make it with 1kg of LMDE and a hallertau tea bag, bulk prime to bottle and leave for 3 months, cool and drink it. It's exquisite.

Het Witte Konijn
I've just cracked the Wal's bitter. Nice for a bitter, and should definately improve with some more time in the bottle. I didn't add anything to it the first time so I could see how they stacked up. Has definately got me wanting to try the rest of the range. Just picked up the Wal's Wheat (which I'm gonna add some Carawheat and Hersbrucker to) and I've got the Wal's Draught in the primary at the mo with some Cluster. For those who haven't tried them before, when you open the cans there is still some hops sitting in the can. Took me a few moments to realise what it was...
I'll have to try the Wals soon.
The best pilsner I've don't so far was with the ESB - that had the same chunky hops in the can.
mmmm hops mmmm
