Hi Daznz, I'm an extract brewer and I do 8L boils on my stove. It takes about 1/2 and hour to come the boil but once it's starts it gets rolling really well.

I boil in stainless, but I don't personally know of problems in boiling in aluminium, see what the other guys say.

Studies have been made alleging that aluminium cooking vessels are linked with alzheimers disease. Take from that what you will...years of drinking homebrew will probably do the same!

I have an electric stove inside and find it WAY too slow to boil. So I take it outside and use the ring burner on the BBQ. major boil-overs in no time.

 That allegation is against aluminium in general, to do with how it collects in the brain. However I bet you are still using aluminium based deodorant, which is probably the biggest source of Al to the body.

Danz, yes I make up the 8L wort to 19L with cool filtered water.

Al free deodorant here

Do not drink out of cans

No Al cooking pots either

This comes from watching it being smelted & also being welded. Evil stuff, avoid it if possible

I'd avoid it too. It just doesn't feel right.

Useless information:

the aluminum - Alzhemier link has been thrown out (according to my source, which now escapes me) it turned out to be a classic case of contamination in the testing gear.

In the unlikely event anyone is interested try this link:
