Bulk priming?

Post by gecko »

I'm wondering what is the general rule (measurement) for the amount of suger added to 23L for bulk priming? After info given on another post of mine I've decided to bulk prime to hopefully gain better head retention and carbination of bottles. I'm doing away with coopers carb drops which seemed to be a little erratic.

Thanks all

You're looking in the ball park of 7 to 10 grammes per litre.

So how would these tables change when using wheat malt instead of dextrose for bulk priming? I read somewhere that the head retention is better?

Also, stupid question but i have finally held back from doing 2 ferments at the same time so now have a free barrel for bulk priming, what type of tubing is ok and not ok to transfer to the priming barrel?

Gecko - you got any brews ready for the 23rd - was going to bring along a few of my dark ales to share and compare. And is it the typial boys only do or can i bring my driver along

Not IMO. If you want better head retention add the wheat malt to the primary ferment.

At the moment I've got a porter that is ready and CC in the fridge ready for the 23rd. I'm hoping to have a lager ready by the 23rd too. First attempt at buld priming on this one.

Of course....bring the wife. Everyone is. It's just the typical J Day crew that's coming. Should be a great shin dig. :D Don't forget your darts either.
