Safeway - Crazy prices on beer!
Safeway - Crazy prices on beer!
Just stopped in to my local Safeway in Melb to fin some good deals on slabs of beer:
Grolsh (330ml crown seals): $39.98
Becks: $39.98 (Dan Murphy's had 'em for $43 last I bought some - maybe 3 months ago.
Heineken: $42.98
Coopers Sparkling Ale/Pale Ale: $39.99
Crown Lager: $39.98
Carlton Draught: $35.98
...That's all I can remember.
Grabbed a slab of Grolsch (at VB prices!) - would have one for becks, but I had a b!tch of a time scraping off the silver foil on the stubbie necks the other day - hardly worth it.

I havent bought a carton of beer since i started brewing in Feb, but occasionally i get a six pack of this and that, just to see whats new. I tend to get alot of the good german beers... simply becuase i'm not good enough to make them, or just have the equipment, plus they come in good 500ml bottles...

I freely admit that I was Very Very Drunk....
"They speak of my drinking, but never consider my thirst."
Hell yeah - I need shares in coopers...

I just love the Coopers long neck bottles (and what's inside them of course). I probably buy a box a month, i'm slowly buidling my way to bottling exclusively in Coopers bottles, i'm up to about 150. Of course when I reach my goal, i'll probably be sick of bottling and switch to kegging.lethaldog wrote:I just cant believe how many home brewers drink commercial beer on a regular basis
The way I look at it, the $48 i'm spending on Coopers per month is well down on the $200 plus I used to spend before home brewing.
"Doc, what can I do about these terrible hangovers?"
'You can stop drinking beer'
"No, seriously Doc, what can I do?"

Personally i prefer my own but whatever floats your boat
, i have the occasional commercial brew when no HB is on offer and i love the coopers range and a few others like Little creatures, james squires and a few others but as i keg and dont need too many more bottles these days, i dont tend to buy mass amounts of beer and all i was saying was basically it was a shock that so many Hbers buy alot of beer

Cheers
