Does this look infected?

Post by beerdrinker »

This is an ale a few days after primary fermentation is complete,it had a layer of yeast(i hope) floating on top which didnt happen on my last couple. I had to put a blowoff tube(forgot to steralize  ) on it. I used WLP 001 with it. Do you guys think it is infected? Tastes ok, cheersImage

sweet :) it just looked to have a heaps thicker than normal layer on top? my other ales (using us56) have had a thin layer on top? Had half a cup of it come out of the blow off tube, must just be yeast floating on top

Yeah liquid yeast are a different animal all together. Looks like a very nice ferment you have going there! Hope you did not infect it by taking the photo

I would use it a couple more times to get my moneys worth!

I've done about 7 or 8 brews with WLP001, and it looks perfectly good to me.
I love that yeast, and it makes a great pale ale.
