Ah, beer, my one weakness. My Achille's heel, if you will.

Aye, and there's the rub.
If you build yourself what is basically a microbrewwery, it will turn into work, and all your old and new mates will expect free beer.
And if you think looking after $58 mil is not work, you have another think coming. There are plenty of smart operators out there who will look after your money, but often they will do better out of it than you.
And all your relatives, and anyone who has ever called him/herself your friend, will expect your assistance to help pay off their mortgage, plastic etc etc etc. That's not to mention all the oodles of charities who will all present a pressing case to relieve you of a large part of your fortune.
All right, you try to keep it quiet. However, everyone who has ever known you will wonder why you chucked in your job, upgraded your house to one costing 8 times what your old one did, and how come you now drive a Porsche.
So, you decide to look after the money yourself, but then you have just acquired yourself a full time investment managers job.
Don't give me $58 mil. I have enough trouble looking after $2 or 3 mil as it is.
Have a nice day. :D :D
Warra,
Sounds like you've had a fair bit of experience in this field??? :)
Is the above what happened to you? :D

Hows the Mansion holding up? Oh, and the Porsche? Have the relatives, friends and charities stopped bugging you yet?

I'd keep brewing, on my new Island on which it would be illegal not to own a fermenter and to not HB, the island would have it's own currency of coconuts and empty longnecks, and anyone found not to like beer will be deemed a witch and burnt on a pile of roasting grain
Thats it, you people have stood in my way long enough, I'm going to clown college

Not really.
I said I would PROBABLY still homebrew.
There`s probably not much more to be said on the thread, but things don`t just finish on your say so, you know.
Moderators do that when there`s a problem, and I don`t see one at the moment.

I`ll always remember the advice I was given on homebrewing, with a firm hand on my shoulder and a steely gaze into my eye........"It`s a fact...{he said}......the more you drink.... the more you save".
And he was right!
Thanks Barney.
This one`s for you. :)

ryan, ryan, you should know me better by now. most of my posts are tongue firmly in cheek, with the odd attempt at being serious or helpful.

That's a brilliant idea Boonie!
And maybe I could get myself hooked up to one of those breathing machines so I wouldn't have to do it all myself
