Yeap. Got 4 of us going to the Sat 11a-2p session.
Bit early but one of my mates has to "babysit" later that evening.

Still waiting for this years beer lists to appear! So I can do some homework before the tasting rush.

My opinion is that they seem to have given an award to just about everyone. Maybe this is standard practise in the industry.

Still I'll be happy if all these guys are exhibiting at the festival.

You're going to the right session (my advice is get into the early session to avoid those who aren't so serious about their beer...), so maybe I'll see you there? (I'll be wearing my Kirin t-shirt...)
If you're serious about sampling for future reference, then take notes... I've been to this gig two years running, and starting with the best intentions, I always manage to walk out after my 3 hours struggling to remember my name, let alone my favourites from the countless beers I've been privelaged to enjoy...
Have fun! (Oh, and don't put your sampling cup in your pocket when you take a piss. When one of my mates undid his fly, it loosened his jeans and the cup slipped out and into the urinal... He wasn't fishing it out, and they don't give replacements... Needless to say, I "pissed" myself everytime I wen't in and saw his cup bobbing around in the trough!)

The 11a-2p was a great session. Not to many people.
Managed to get, guesstimate, about differnt 100 beers into me, before the session ended.
Some great stuff.

Was well worth the $35 bucks. Definitely got my money's worth.

3Ravens even had an pull tap in the English Real Ale cask style.
Samual Adams had good range there. The Cream Stout was my favourite. Strangly reminded me of the taste of smoking a cuban cigar.
Was impressed with Redoak (from Sydney) range. Lots of uncommon belgian styles.

Expected more vendors to have a table and most vendors didn't have their entire range.
But overall was pretty happy. Even remembered my name afterwards.

Longbeach. Did a quick search for a Kirin shirt about halfway through. Didn't get a positive match. I'm sure you had a great time.

Went to the same session BK & I must agree with most of what you said - great value for $35, impressive range of beers, including many I've never seen anywhere in this country.
Found it a bit strange that the beer that won the main award (Doryman's Dark Ale I think it's called) was nowhere to be seen, let alone tasted.
Matters little I guess in the big picture, as you still walk out struggling to put a coherent sentence together, but feeling pretty good about it.

For what it's worth, one beer that really impressed me was 3 Ravens White, very similar to Hoegaarden, with a brilliant fresh taste....of course it helped that it was the first beer I tried.

For future reference it seems that the Friday night session is one to be avoided, unless you want to be stuck with XXXX, Stirling and Carlton Mid-strength by the end of the night....much more civilised on the Saturday.

Oh what a morning....
BK am impressed with your guestimate at 100 beers... Was keeping a tally that got messier towards the end, hit about 60. Still not bad - that's one every 3 minutes not counting piss breaks and bullshit sessions with other punters...

Must say don't remember being totally impressed with any of the beers on offer. When you brew for no one but yourself, it's getting harder to impress me... But then after the fist hour my ramblings went from "I'm really impressed with the floral overtones on that pilsner" to "Nah" and "Yeah"...

Bring on Beertopia 2006!

Oh, and book early for the Saturday night session too - mate of mine was in the line, three people from the door, and the sold out signs went up... Wouldn't that get up your goat!

well Im glad everyone had a good time who went, I was thinking of going before the Geelong North Melbourne match but didnt want to drink beer out of plastic cups!!

please tell me THEY DIDNT SERVE BEER IN PLASTIC CUPS
