Instead of a sticky for all the different yeasts, should we perhaps just have thier websites in the links page - that way when a line is added or discontinued etc we have an auto update of the details.

The saflager safale safbrew range can be found at http://www.fermentis.com

As dogger said, it lowered the FG, by around 5 points.
Okey Dokey, spring/summer is coming and Boonie spotted some strawberries cheap today at $1.70 a Punnet.........I've done the Strawberry Blonde and now I am starting to get the brew bug again, put down my first brew in 4-5 weeks.....Getting the Strawberries tomorrow and Freezing them.

Some-one mentioned Watermelon Beer and it got me thinking........mmm Fruity Melon Beer

Now stop crapping on Boonie and get to the question....

Now Chris, did this one turn out OK?

When I searched I noticed rwh did not rate Watermelon and on Google some people have not rated commercial beers that well with the Watermelon in it.

I was planning this as I have 2 Coopers Blonde Kits left from my $5 specials...yes I still have some left  ...I've been a tad slow brewing through winter

Coopers Blonde Kit
20 Grams of Nelson Sauvin @ 15 Minutes..Fruity/Passionfruity Hop
10 Grams Cascade @ 15
1 KG LDM
Yeast TBA....Looking at maybe a US-05 subject to replies.
21 Litre Batch

Brew for 5-7 Days at 20 Degrees

Rack to another Fermenter with a Full Watermelon Blended and strained into fermenter. I had planned on boiling it into a Syrup like Molasses as I read on Google that they did do this to brew it, but I am thinking as the majority of it is water anyway...
Add another 15 Grams Nelson Dry Hopped @ rack and leave it for another week.

Thoughts? or should I just stick to the Strawberries?

Cheers

Boonie

PS Now before you guys say, hey what happened to the AG Boonie.........great things come to those that wait, or "Financial Constraints" or "Boonie's a chicken to tell his wife how much that would be"... .....I am planning to have the stuff by Xmas....."What do you want to Xmas...CASH...so I can get, um, get some brewing gear"

Anyway, with watermelon you'll need more than one- 5-15kg depending on the amount of flavour you want. I also recommend a quite malty beer as a base. Otherwise consider a bit of lactose to bring out the melon flavour. Personally, I'd do both. And a bit of salt is a very good idea too.

Watermelon beer is a winner for me- I've done it 3 times now, and I rate it highly- the more melon the better for me. Does that make me a melon-head?

I've not tried watermelon beer, but ginger usually complements watermelon wonderfully. There's a watermelon and Stone's Ginger Wine sorbet I've made several times, and it is fantastic. So, I can't imagine that a hint of ginger wouldn't work in a watermelon beer.

OK, thanks fellas.

Now should I just not use the tin and not the extra hops?

I'll add fresh Ginger to it too....how much drtom?

Cheers

I've absolutely no idea. I'd start with a decent piece, and go more or less next time.... I reckon that timidly adding a little bit and going "well, I couldn't taste that - I'll try more next time" is a waste of a trial.
