g'day guys,
any suggestions on how to make something as close as possible to cointreau?

All I can offer is that it uses sweet and bitter orange peel and beet sugar. It is basically a very high alc version of a triple sec. Hope this helps in some way.

I knew a guy from south africa that used to infuse oranges in clean spirit, i think it was pretty much what you are looking for but i dont drink it myself so im not that greay a judge!!

just yesterday I made an orange alcohol.
6litres of 40% neutral spirit
Skin of 12 oranges
juice of 8 oranges

Threw it all in the still and and distilled as normal.
Very very nice! awesome orange flavour.
I only watered it down to 45% in the end because at about 40% it was going cloudy. I assume thats the oils from the skin.
