Need recipe - partial grain!

Postby JetFoley » Monday Jan 11, 2010 10:18 am

Hey, I'm looking for a good recipe for my first partial grain brew.

I like hoppy beers, not overly bitter. Like most of Matilda Bays beers.

Could you guys suggest any brews that I might enjoy? also can you give a bit of a description of he method?

Thnx,
Jet.

This is pretty good for the second part of your question:

The first? Just do a search for the specific beers - there will almost certainly be a recipe or at least an account of the hops used so you can make your own recipe.

Best of luck with it.

Bum's link is all you need to know about partial mashing.

As for recipes, how many kg can you comfortably mash?

My golden ale recipe is proving to be reasonably popular and is a regular AG cherry popper.

Think James Squire Golden Ale with more hop flavour and aroma.

I can convert it to partial mash if you give me your pot sizes etc

That is a good one.
You could sub out some base malt for the kit or DME. Easy as, soft floral hops, tasty.

Ended up making a Fat Yak Clone.

1.7kg can of coopers australian Pale Ale
1.5kg Pilsner Pale Malt
0.5kg Munich 1 Malt
0.1kg Crystal Malt Medium

20g Cascade pallets @ 10min
8g Nelson Sauvin @ 10 mins
15g Nelson Sauvin @ Falme Out

US05 yeast

20 min boil.

Went down without a hitch! although I did struggle to cool the wort. I dont have fancy pants gear so I ended up just putting the pot into a sink of cold water and eventually adding ice to the wort.
