Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Also just a thought- Similar to the golden point rule in REAL football
(so there's a result at the end of the game)- if no win first number maybe go second number, third number, etc to give time for postage so when I win I get all your beautifully crafted brews before Xmas.
Just a thought but maybe I'm being a bit cocky trying to change rules as a newbie to HB&B forum

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
No need to change the rules as they already do what you're suggesting. "First valid number" doesn't limit us to the first ball drawn but to the first number that someone has. We only revert to the next draw if no-one has any of the numbers from the draw. We'll put this down to newbie excitment. Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
That is uncanny. First dibs on the winning number Earle. Nice work
Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
WOOOO F'IN HOOOOOO. Glad I stuck with my number even though it hadn't come through for me in the previous lotto draws. Will PM everyone in the next couple of days.

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
OK, all PM's sent. Please let me know if it doesn't come through. I was a bit worried because they seemed to be stuck in my out-box until I figured out they stay there until the recipient/s log on.
Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Congrats Earl, I'll get something off so you'll have it for christmas.
Looking at Prosepine on google maps, I wish I could hand deliver it.

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Hi Earle,
Congratulations. A worthy reward for organising so many lottos!
I currently have nothing to send (the cupboard is completely bare) but will be putting down my first BIAB before Christmas. Provided that goes well and tastes as good as I hope it will, I'll get a bottle off to you ASAP.
Cheers,
Oliver

Yeah, it's about time you won one, Earle.
I've got two beers on tap that are both maturing (and they need it!) Still haven't even sent Jello a bottle from the last lotto because I'm bottling via the dribble method, making ageing in the bottles a bad idea, and I don't want to be sending something that isn't quite ready. That being said, should be able to get a bottle off to you (and Jello) sometime in the coming weeks.

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Congrats Earle.
A couple of choices - an oaked RIS (~18 months old, 12 months on american oak), an Imperial Rye Landlord (11.4%, 100 IBU of Fuggles, EKG and Styrians) or an English Barleywine (almost 3 years old and Strong Ale Champion at SABSOSA the last 2 years).
Or a bottle of my wine if you'd rather try something not beer.

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Thanks everyone.
Doc, that's an impossible decision as they all sound great. Better send me a bottle of each.
But if not, I think I'll go with the Landlord, the imperial and rye sounds very interesting. Cheers

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
No worries.
It is a crazy beer, only 1st runnings used, so super rich and malty and the 100 IBU is well balanced.

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Earle bloody well done, your a worthy winner, other than me of course
.
A rich stout, a two can stout/ale, a honey bitter or "braveheart" Scotch ale?
Cheers BB

I'm torn between the honey bitter and the scotch ale. Tell me a little more to help me decide.barrelboy wrote:Earle bloody well done, your a worthy winner, other than me of course.

The wife gets cranky enough at the cost of sending beers in the previous lotto's, I don't think the budget will stretch to plane tickets. Too hot and humid here at this time of year anyway.
Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Morning Earle, the honey bitter is a Coopers English bitter with 200 gms of Bush Mallee honey and 200 gms of soft dark brown sugar. Sonny and is wife gave it a good rap in the Xmas in July win. A good "session" drink it certainly is. Primary ferm. 15 Days @ 20 degrees. Has the English bitter taste with a lovely honey after taste.
The "Brave Heart" ale is 2kg light dry malt, brown sugar, dextrose, crystal malt, cara malt, choc malt, golding hops boil and finishing, safale yeast. Bottled 2/8/11. I've found the the couple of beers tasted so far as delicious, sweet/ bitter hopped taste if you know what I mean. One for aging but great now.
Hope it all helps your choice, cheers BB

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
BB, not sure if your descriptions make it easier or harder to choose, harder I think as they both sound delicious. Just checked out Sonny's feedback on your honey bitter and think I would like to give that one a go as well. I don't get much chance to sample other brewers product up here so sampling one that has been commented on by another brewer will add to the experience. Cheers

Re: 2011 Xmas Lotto
Congrats again earle. Having a stalled ferment on my GA at the moment so will send a CPA clone in the meantime that I think is bloody delicious. Will also send a GA http://homebrewandbeer.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=10695 once finished and if I determine it worthy of your tastebuds. Have only had megaswill drinkers try my brews so it will be good to get some intelligent feedback. I had one mate comment on a stella artois clone i did saying "that's fking unreal! goes down like water!"
Seemed like negative feedback to me but apparently wasn't .
How do you guys usually package your beers? I was thinking just a bubble wrap postbag would that be ok? Do you also try and insulate thermally?
Also when is the next draw by the sound of some of these brews I wanna win BADLY
