mmmm definitely going to try a brew with coffee soon. Might go with a few shots of espresso in a jug, cool and add 5-10Ml to each bottle. Try a dozen or so to begin with!
Probably a fairly light lager as the base!

This has been the craze over here for the summer, beer with caffiene. Yeh right... doesn't make sense to me alcohol and caffiene, Bit of a misconception no?

Try a nice fruit beer if you have to walk on the wild side.

If you have to do it, do it in a big dark beer with lots of chocolate malt, everyone else has done the light side and IMHO it sucks.

Had a beer gut long before I started brewing. Brewing has just helped it along and alleviated a lot of store beer hangovers in the process

I agree Dogger Dan - fruit beers suit the malty dark ales nicely.
I'm in for that HM Cherry Jam Brew next.
I have tried a fruity light ale and that is getting better over time. I added 40 old fuit herbal tea bags to a cheep kit and a nice light malt. It worked nicely - not exceptional though. 6/10
I'm more of a hops / bitter man at the moment.

On the subject of the poll, Ernest Hemingway once said
"I decided to stop drinking with creeps. I decided to drink only with friends. I've lost 30 pounds."
Clear enough?

Why does it have to be a "Beer Gut"? Why can it not be a "Caramel Slice Gut" or "Bacon and Egg Roll Gut" or whatever?. Point being - why does Beer get the blame? Seems unfair.

Cheers,

Greg.

"Bacon & Egg Roll Gut"- weren't they a punk band from Sydney?

Dunno, I was just thinking of stuff that will beef you up but doesn't get its name on the tummy.

Cheers,

Greg

That's funny GT, when my partner got pregnant I lost weight - due to stress, I'm sure. Funny how it works.

My Wife just had our first baby 2 weeks ago, and in between the lack of sleep and the comfort drinking, (not just beer, anything thats open), my beer gut seems to remain constant. Stress+beer=waistline equilbriam...

I made a commitment to myslef when I had kids that I wanted to make sure I was fit enough to play out the back with them without getting puffed. I took up running at 38. I have run in 4 consectutive City to Surf's (in Sydney) and am going in a 10k fun run this Sunday.
I don't take running seriously, I just make sure I do it when I can.....it's like an itch if you do it long enough....just got to have another go...

You shouldn't feel guilty about drinking beer - If it makes you feel bad then you should stop - does anyone here feel bad for drinking beer ?
It has never been a problem for me - the thought of drinking beer makes me feel happy.
If you are worried about how you look - stop drinking beer and become a supermodel if it will make you feel happy !

betta spread the word around uni then that beer has less calories than wine, so all my female friends will stop punishing themselves with cheep "goon" bags of "Sunnyvale" and "Kiser s(lut)"

the stuff tastes awful and gets you fat, it really should be taken off the market, and we should all drink beer!
