haven't done the spicy ghost myself but it must be the single most maligned kit on this forum

just like AC I made the MSB pale ale 2x cans = 23L, no extra fermentables or hops and it turned out to be a very drinkable beer. i made it in Sept last year and it was all gone before christmas, I will have to make a few more!!!

I have not come across anything bad so far, but by the bad reviews around this site, I will not go near a Cascade kit.

Talking about Tooheys, the Tooheys Classic Dark Ale, I find to be very good. Makes a great clone of a Tooheys Old. I like it, and my wife loves it, so can't be too bad.

When mixing the Spicy Ghost smelled like it would be good.

I think it is the wanky ghost 'Special Yeast' that imparted the feral flavours.
As stated by more experienced brewers, it would prbly be a good kit brewed @ lager temps, and with a proper amount of Lager yeast,
this is not supplied in the kit ! ?.

Well fella's I have brewed all the Cascades and although I was dissapointed initially they developed into a reasonable beer.
Light and certainly drinkable.

Much better head retention than the Coopers tins I have been using and they have all had the same ultra brew added to them.

ESB 3 KG kits have been consistent and very nice and hoppy,

I have a Coopers Mexican cerveza down for bottling tonight as well, this will be interesting to see how it pans out as well.

I did a Beermakers draught bitter early Dec and this will be the next to test out as well maturing nicely as it is.
was going to back up this brew but the temps looking too warm for the next few days, might wait out.

Puttting an 1.7 Kg ESB draught down with ultra brew and a hop teabag as well for goo measure.

I'll post in a seperate forum post as well as these kits haven't been around for very long and I expect this will become drinkable quite quickly.

If it turns out well i'll hit up a night cliub over a couple of weeks for some corona bottles and do a stubbie kit run, store in boxes out f the light. they should be fine and coronas are crown seal for good measure.

The wort was much thinner than the norm and was very vigourous for three days but has been quite dormant the last couple.i know i should check the final SG but I didn't check the initial Sg so i thought you cant measure from what you didn't know in the first place!!

Try and get the boxes & six pack carriers if you can - otherwise it becomes a chore - the boxes are good because they open on top & are completely sealable. I don't know about the nightclub thing though because of the lemons & limes.

checked it tonight when i got home from work, HELL KRAUSEN @ 11*C.

OK, OK, Tooheys is not THAT bad I suppose. It is still beer after all. Just. My tastes have definitely broadened since becoming a homebrewer. Hate to admit it, but I used to be a VB only man. A mate came back from the big Euro trip and put me on to Kilkenny and since then I've been game to try anything. Still don't think I'll be rushing into a Tooheys though. Not when there's Coopers around.

As for the Cerveza, I've got one on now and the SG just won't come down to a level I'm comfortable with bottling. 18 days now. Racked it as recommended here in another post, didn't do anything, so chucked in a Saflager. Getting a bit more activity but man it's slow.

Cascade spicy ghost and tooheys kits tasted foul to me.

when i started brewing went through the cascade kits and quite like them, thank god my taste buds have developed, can't stand them now.

the spicy goat is horrible

and the imperial voyage piss ail, well nuff said about that crap!!

just my thoughts though!!

Like many others here, I am not a fan of the Cascade kits. I made the XXXX kit as per the can instructions (500g dextrose) and it turned out better than I expected. Other than that, I pretty much only use the coopers kits.

Regarding, nightclubs and lemons & limes,
I would be more worried bout the l&l's who have been drinking out of the corona bottles.

been doing some in corona bottles myself, nice but 45mls less seems like a lot at times ??

Its too hot at the moment to brew lagers or pilseners from anyone,so i would avoid these.

Not when you've got a beer loving better half and a fermenting fridge! Its' at 10-12'c and the lagers going beautifully!
Three beer fridges all doing different jobs, and a laundry sink when ever you need extra capaccity.
