I have made the ESB fresh wort Lager with whitelabs WLP838 southern German lager yeast.
Added 5lt water and fermented away. Has to be the most simple beer I have ever brewed.
3 weeks in bottle and it tastes fantastic.Best (kit) beer ever brewed
Highly recommended to anyone wishing to try an AG beer without mashing.
These worts are packed hot from the kettle in St. Peters Brewery, St. Peters, Sydney
Have just bottled my second fresh wort brew, an APA and looking to do another.
I am thinking of the ESB pilsner as it comes highly recomended but unfortunately my brew room is only 15C. I would appreciate hearing about anyones experiences or comments. Do these kits benefit from adding extra hops, grain etc. I am looking for something like the JS pilsner with that nice hop taste.
Maybe a large esky/ brewfridge is required first
Thanks

I just bought a fresh wort kit from Brewer's Choice in Wacol (Brisbane). I have the Autumn Wheat Fresh Wort 15L container, a pack of coriander seeds and Safale/Wheat K-97 all for $37.50 . I think this Hoegaarden clone kit (orange not included unfortunately ) is on special. The homebrew guy gave me a taste of it and I thought it was bloody fantastic, although I am no HB connoisseur... Considering a beer kit, decent sugar blend, hops and yeast can cost you $30, I think another $7.50 is no big deal, also this fresh wort kit is considerably quicker and easier to make.
I have just done one of the bohemium lager fresh wort kits. Has been in the bottle for 2 weeks and I tried the first one last night. It is easily the best tasting beer I have made so far, and probably the easiest too.
For $35 with saflager yeast and essentially a free 15L racking cube, i find it relatively easy to justify the price.
I do agree some others who said that you don't feel like you really had any input in making it, but for any kit brewer who isnt fully satisfied with the taste of their current brews, making one of these will restore faith and motivate you.
