But it seems to have finished fermenting, so would it benefit at all from staying in the primary??

I won't be racking this one (mainly because I don't have the equipment....)

Good to hear, I had a hard time finding "Thomas Coopers Wheat Extract 1.5kg" in Vic (I'm in the SE Suburbs) so I ordered some straight from Coopers. Can't wait till it gets here so I can try this one too :D:D

I got some from Narre Brew supplies in Narre Warren.

It's not branded Coopers but the man said it's the same/equivalent stuff.

Wheat extract is pretty much wheat extract, i wouldnt worry to much about brand names as long as they are a good quality, ive done plenty of recipes that require coopers liquid malt but as i cannot get a hold of this where i live(mind you i havent searched that hard) i use blackrock liquid and its fine

I think you may want to listen to Graham Saunders latest program if you think they are all the same

I didnt mean they are all the same but for most home brewers i dont think that we would notice a huge difference from one brand to the next, at least not enough to put it off if you cant get that particular brand

After all this talk I decided It was high time I did another of these and I put it down tonight. I followed my recipe adding just the tea from a 250gm packet of Sanitarium Puffed Wheat.

timmy, I always leave mine longer as my first few brews were "under-cooked" and ive been scared of doing the same again. From what I can tell it can only do it good to give it a few extra days :)

I'm also putting mine on tonight, the wheat extract arrived today!

What are you using the puffed wheat for? I'm assuming when you say "tea" you are soaking the puffed wheat in warm water then draining the water and adding it to the wort?

I had read, and NTRabbit pointed out that the puffed wheat adds a creamy mouthfeal. I might not of used enuf tho :(

Yeah I soaked it in warm water for 15mins the strained into the simmering malt etc...

I'll put one down this weekend for sure. Looks like a great beer. I remember this beer called Austraian White. Used to be released by the Mad Brewers (Malt Shovel) every summer and it definitely had hints of orange and coriander (it may have even said so on the label).

I chowed through a sick pack of that every night until they started releasing over-fizzed batches.

Rang them up, got a few cases of the freshest (and nicest) batches they could manage, which were great.

Sadly, I haven't seen this beer for a number of years.

Inspired!

Just ordered the ingredients. Much the same:

Coopers Brewmaster Selection Wheat Beer
500g Torrified What
K97 Safwheat yeast
Saaz hops (standard teabag, which I think is 12g - I don't want too much hops in this but would like some).
1.5kg of Cooper Wheat Extract

I'm picking up two lots of this and will put one down tonight.

What kind of alcohol content do you usually get if I brew to 22litres?
