I found a recipe a while ago that had ground guarana beans in it. Which apparently is ment to equal 35mg of caffeine per drink. I've been interested in trying this out for a while now. Its all on here if you want to check it out.
Does anyone know where you get guarana beans from btw?

Tasted it on NYE but cant really remember that night at all. Prob shouldnt have started the night on the 7% HB GB..... Handed around a few glasses of Buzz so sent a few sms' last night to get some feedback.KEG wrote:hey drsmurto, got any news on it? any tastings yet? i'm quite keen on a coffee'd beerdrsmurto wrote:Will keep you posted on the outcome, warts and all.

Feedback was positive - all loved the head, some didnt really pick up a coffee taste, others mentioned they could taste it but only cos i said it was there. Mate who helps out with the bottling and goes halves in the costs (silent partner or just lazy?) liked it but reckons the coffee flavour should be stronger..
Also tasted it myself last night, completely sober. First ever go at bulk priming. Best head on my beers yet. stayed till the last drop. The coffee makes it a tad too bitter for my taste but the actual coffee flavour is subtle. I did end up adding 10g of POR steeped in boiling water for 1 min in plunger to the primary once fermentation done but this only helped with the smell, which was good.
As i said before, super keen on perfecting Buzz beer so i will be trying this again but i reckon i will go for all malt to try and balance the bitterness. (Comments?? the extra malt should add some sweetness as it wont 100% ferment??) i really want to keep the style as 'light' as possible - ie a pale rather than a dark, stout etc.
All in all a decent beer for a first attempt. Need to wait till my GBs finish fermenting - they stole the show big time. I ran out of those pretty early on....
Cheers
