NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........
EKG, is that Eastern Kent Goldings Doc?
That recipe sounds pretty good to me.
I like ben dovers recipe too.
On a seperate matter, man I am getting sick of bottling.
I think I will just have to spend some cash to save time......sorry to hijack thread ben.d, It's just that I bottled another 30 tonight, racked a lager and threw in fridge and I have another 60 to bottle tomorrow
Cheers

I said it was giving it a run for its money but the LCPA is coming into its own - i dry hopped at rack with 20g of cascade and then threw another 10g into the keg - aroma reaches out of the glass and slaps you right across the face!
EKG - yep, east kent goldings, i cant believe i waited so long before trying this hop. Very nice and reminds me of all the real ales i consumed in blighty.
Yep, ben.ds recipe looks pretty nice too, i reckon the half light/dark combo would be very interesting and with the fuggles, a very nice northern english beer, not unlike newcastle brown ale which i am quite partial to.
Told myself when i got kegs i would still brew 23L and leave aside 5-6 longies to age and compare but think i might adjust batch sizes to 20L and not bother. Nothing like racking to a keg and realising thats it. Wash one 'bottle' and no more capping!

If it says goldings its likely to be grown in Tasmania or NZ.
EKG are goldings grown in Kent.
Or at least thats how i understand it.
If thats the case, next year i will have Mt Torrens Goldings

Which affects the flavours/aromas you get.
EKG wont give you the same beer as the goldings you have. Same for US vs NZ cascade.

Hello fellow brewers,
Im so glad that alot of you blokes have tried out my recipe for
northern english bitter.
You could try a slight variation by adjusting the ratios
of dark and light malts, also you could just use east kent goldings
instead of fuggles
It will then come out as very very close
to a bishops finger ale of kent in england .
I have new next door neighbour a pom who just arrived off the boat
a few months ago, i gave him a sample of my different brews
so he said that i do very good authentic english ales as drunk in alot of
country pubs in england ,
i was so pleased .
At the moment my hoegarden clone is maturing very nicely
i will be posting pictures soon
and my german lager is about to start with some lovely special hops
look out for that posting.
cheers
ben
