I gotta say, I just opened another bottle and this stuff is shithouse!!! It's like plastic. I won't be going back. I wont waste it either. Will just put it away hoping that it improves with time, bute really... who wants to wait six months for a farking beer?
Anyone had any good fortune with this kit?

Daron,
My sentiments exactly, and i concurr with the plastic chemical taste, mine have been in the bottle 3 months and although they have improved to a slight degree; simply it's not a great beer and one I wil not make again.

If the Golden Harvest Lager was anything to go by, drink it now while it is still passable. It didnot age at all well that batch.
Cheers,

It's the chemical taste that it leaves. When I was brewing the laundry (aka brewery) was really on the nose.
But drinking it theres a chemical taste about it.
I actually emailed the today from their website and asked as to why it still tastes this way, hoping for some timefrae as to when I could probably get into it.
A fella from there has emailed me back and is prepared to call and discuss it. Which I think is great customer service. I will respond and chat with him later.

I did read your posts AC. I had already bought the kit when i got read it. At least they're prepared to listen.
Anyway, my coriander, lime and honey drop i posted on here is better than Spicy Ghost. Try that and you'll get a whole lot better beer.

Dont suppose anyone knows the IBU rating of the Cascade cans? Bi Lo nearby has them on sale cheap at the moment and I have a spare Coopers Wheat yeast sachet sitting here. Thought I might use the yeast, 1kg of dry wheat malt extract and a cheap wheat/pale hopped malt can like Homebrand, Cascade or Coopers to make a budget Weizen. Needs to know the IBU on the cans though, so I dont make it too hoppy.

I always just add kits after a boil and then pour into the tub. The temps were about 18-20C. It fermented like nothing else. Bubbled its arse off.
I just used the yeast supplied.

I sent in a bottle of my brew and they detected an infection. The guy said it happens no matter how clean you are, it can still occur. Fair enough. He said this was the plastic taste I was getting.
Anyway, he gave me a recipe he had just used and tried and said it was good. This came with a free tin to have another go. I don't have it with me as all my brewing gear is packed to move house. I'll give it a go soon as I'm settled. And I'll post it here.

I have also made a Spicy Ghost, been in the bottle for 7 months now and it still tastes ordinary!

Will not be brewing one of these again.

Punter ; is this Spicey Goast not good tasting or just a bit watery and insepid?I'm thinking hops.malt.corriander seed might be the fix
